The Girl at First Avenue Goes Desi with Gehna

It’s that month when festive occasions come rushing one after the other like tsunami waves. I see some of my friends attending eight to ten engagements and weddings within a span of two weeks. Add to that Christmas and New Yearhappy new year 2020 celebrations, family get-togethers, vacations and December becomes one big happy concoction of family, friends, laughter and madness! Although for me, the only tsunami wave that’s hit me is a wave of work as I rush around wrapping up shoots and trying my best to stick to all the deadlines before the entire industry goes into party/holiday mode. Luckily (for you guys) since I am still at work, I can keep the recommendations and ideas rolling in on what to wear, what to buy, what to gift and all that jazz.

After months of searching online for a certain kind of affordable and trendy traditional jewelry, I came across Gehna. Gehna is one of the very first jewelry boutique’s of its kind based in Chennai, they offer one-of-a-kind pieces of art, specially handcrafted, and customized to your last detail. I like brands that have a personal story behind them, that exude craftsmanship, skill and passion for what they do, and untimely do brilliant work. You can browse their galleries for design inspirations if you are falling short of inspiration. Delicate jasmine buds opening their petals seem to have inspired one particular design, the crescent moon and the stars, another design and as you keep browsing you’ll notice that Gehna takes a lot of inspiration from nature and what’s around us everyday. A meticulous form with choices on what karatage of gold you would like, what kind of stones would go into the jewelry, the finish on the metal and more are presented to you when you choose to design your own piece of jewelry. You can upload any design that you like after which their expert team will take it upon themselves to sketch out the design, refine it and deliver the end product better than you have envisioned.

Recently Gehna has launched a new silver collection, where the products are trendy and extremely affordable. Now this happens to be my favorite part of their entire website. The jumkas specially are my absolute favorite! Just the right size, with intricate detailing and delicate structures they are perfect for everyday wear as well as festive wear. The price range is pretty affordable between INR1300 – INR3500. I decided to style one such piece with a bright pink lehenga and a gold waistcoat for a recent event. Check out the pictures below, and some of the other jewelry options that they have.
